Year In Review Sneak Peek: Blasting Off In The Canados Gladiator 411

Manufactured in Rome, the first Canados Yachts Gladiator 411 Carbon Series sportboat imported into the United States thanks to Scot Conrad of SLT Collection in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., made its U.S. debut during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in late October. Since then, Conrad, who visited the Italian boat builder’s manufacturing facility last week, said he’s fielded a bunch of calls about the smallest boat the company builds and has received a ton of compliments on the outboard-powered monohull.

And, thanks to Stu Jones and company at the Florida Powerboat Club who captured the first running shots of the 41-footer powered by twin Mercury Racing 450R engines earlier this month, Conrad is eager to showcase how the boat handles the open water of the Atlantic Ocean following the photo shoot set up to collect images for marketing purposes and the boat’s featured pages in the upcoming Speed On The Water 2022 Year In Review magazine, which is available to pre order here.

During a rather sporty day off the coast of Pompano Beach, Fla., SLT’s Max Conrad and Supreme Marine’s Troy Hannon were able to put the boat to the test and experience some serious splashdowns in the sleek Gladiator 411 Carbon Series, which is clear by the images in the slideshow below.

Scot Conrad, who called the 6,800-pound, post-cured carbon-fiber-and-epoxy model “an outboard-powered V-bottom sportboat for buyers who want something fast and efficient but really, really functional,” said demo rides are available in the boat, which features a 10-foot, 8-inch beam. The exclusive United States dealer for the builder, the owner of SLT Collection added that he plans to take the boat to some poker runs in 2023.

In fact, he’s considering taking it to the Joey Gratton Memorial New Year’s Day Fun Run in Sarasota, Fla., pending his travel schedule, which could see him returning to Italy to check on several boats he has order. He said he has a 431 Walkaround, a 493 Grand, a 571 Blade and a 901 Sport in production.

In the meantime, enjoy the images of the 41-footer that were taken just it in time for the 2022 Speed On The Water Year In Review print edition, which prints next week. Order your issue before January 1 and you’ll save $5—it’s just a click away.
