Concept Reenters The Sportboat Market With 32-Footer

Under the leadership of Luis Avila, Concept Boats entered the performance-oriented center console market in 1986. The South Florida-based company built a strong following on producing durable, seaworthy hulls that were efficient on whatever outboard engines their owners chose to clamp to the transom. But in 2006, the company also explored the sportboat market with an outboard-powered 30-footer.

Now Avila’s son, Eric, is running the show, and the younger Avila is breathing fresh life and enthusiasm into the brand. Dubbed the 32 Sport Deck and based on the same hull as the company’s successful 32-footer, his latest effort hit the water for the first time this week.

The boat is powered by a pair of 400-hp V-10 outboards from Mercury Racing. Top speed “so far” is 80 mph, according to Avila.

The interior layout includes a spacious cockpit and cabin.

Despite that current demand for V-bottom sportboats—stern-drive and outboard—is less than booming, Avila expressed confidence in his decision to add one to the Concept line.

“Concept Boats is in a prime spot to crush it with our 32 Sport Deck,” he explained. “We were ahead of the curve, launching the first 30 Sport Deck back in 2006. Our current model really stands out because we’ve packed it with family-friendly features that others are just starting to offer.

Viewed from any angle, Concept’s new 32-footer is a looker.

“We’ve got a walk-through transom, a full swim platform, a huge cockpit, two coolers, a comfy cabin with AC and even a separate bathroom,” he continued. “Not many boats can boast all that in a 32-foot package.”

The first model is equipped with Mercury Racing 400R outboard engines.
