First Texas-Based Skaterfest At 21 Boats

First Texas-Based Skaterfest At 21 Boats

Unless his plans changes, Skater Powerboats founder Peter Hledin has the rest of the month off from “personal appearances”  alongside Skater henchman Tony Cutsuries as he tackles the company’s 50th anniversary tour. A soft-spoken and quiet guy—at least until you get to know him—Hledin will use the month to recharge by working long days at his Douglas, Mich., facility.

But come October 3-6, he’ll be back on the road for Skaterfest 2024. Registration for the Lake Texoma-hosted event stands at 21 boats. That means Hledin will have more than enough Skater-fan hands to shake and babies to kiss between outings on the water during the four-day event.

Skaterfest 2024 is being produced by RP Elite Motors and Marine—the catamaran builder’s sole dealer—in Springtown, Texas. Such events celebrating the brand have been produced in several places by several Skater-lovers, the but October version on Lake Texoma will be the first Skaterfest held in the Lone Star state.

“Though we capped the event at 30 boats, our original goal was 15 boats,” explained Ross Ramsey of Elite Motors and Marine. “So we are very happy with the number of participants we have committed.”

Ramsey’s wife, Mackenzie, recently took on a full-time marketing role with the dealership. She had been handling its marketing efforts for the past four years. Her husband couldn’t be more delighted with the change.

“Mackenzie is a major reason in how RP Elite has grown to this level,” he said. “We’re very fortunate to now have her full-time, and it’s a great feeling seeing our family working together daily. My dad and grandfather are looking down smiling.”

Ramsey said he has inked speedonthewater.com photographer Pete Boden, Scrapyard media Circus House Media and Instant Memories Photography to capture the weekend-long event.

“And of course, Speed On The Water is going to be there,” he added.

As previously reported, West Bay Casino and Resort in Kingston, Okla., will be the event’s host venue. Ramsey, who attended the Skater 50th anniversary event at Super Cat Fest last month, is ready to continue the brand-celebration.

“We’ve had a vendor of ours working on a really cool gift for Peter Hledin,” said Ramsey. “It’s at the final stages of being completed and I can’t wait for Pete, his colleagues, family and participants to see it Saturday evening at our dinner presentation.”
