Spotlight on Quantum

It only seemed fitting that Quantum, on its 40-year anniversary, came out of the gate with guns blazing. The rod and reel manufacturer redirected its focus in 2024 to saltwater anglers, with forward-looking plans for the next decade. Powered by a team of industry veterans, the company has new branding, products, and even a fresh headquarters in Stuart, Florida.
“This team has a proven track record of managing successful saltwater brands and understands what our customers want,” says Mike Rice, senior vice president of Quantum. “These guys aren’t corporate desk jockeys; they fish and they take it seriously.”
At ICAST, Quantum introduced two families of reels and combos, and one line of rods, for a total of 40 different SKUs. The new offerings focused exclusively on spin tackle. This fall, anglers can buy Benchmark ($149.99 to $189.99) and Strive ($99.99 to $139.99) reel models in sizes from 2500 to 8000 (six total options for each style).
Both new reel models incorporate a sturdy aluminum frame to maintain gear alignment, Quantum’s fully sealed SEALOQ 6 protection of internal components (to IPX6 standards), and a CFX200 carbon-fiber Xtreme drag system with best-in-class max drags. The Benchmark spinners integrate GearTeq machined gearing, precisely cut to tight tolerances and built from premium materials.

To pair the reels with a fighting stick, Quantum’s Myth inshore rod series ($129.99 to $169.99) is available in 10 different options. The new spinning rod is crafted from a proprietary HSX30 carbon-fiber blank, outfitted with premium components like Seaguide Zirconia guides, Fuji DPS reel seats, and sculpted cork grips.
“Tested Beyond Limits” is a great tagline for the Quantum brand. The gear introduced this year was rigorously tested in its state-of-the-art facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but also field-tested throughout the Southeast. “Quantum is going to turn some heads this year,” says Rice. “Anglers can expect better products and better support from a team that won’t stop.”
