Peters Back In The Cockpit With Mod-V Shootout Offshore Ride

Out of the Super Stock-class ranks, former LPC team owner Loren Peters of Sunrise Beach, Mo., will be back in the cockpit today at Shootout Offshore on the Lake of the Ozarks. But he won’t be throttling a Super Stock raceboat, as he did with various drivers including Mike Wright. He’ll be handling the throttles alongside driver Travis Petko of the Relentless/Laticrete team, which competes in the Mod V class.

Rob Hartmann, the team’s regular throttleman, is out for the Shootout Offshore event, with a family obligation.

Though Peters has never competed in a V-bottom, he has owned several high-performance V-bottom pleasure boats and is eager today’s Mod V contest to begin. The Mod V race is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on the Central Missouri waterway.

“Travis called me last week and asked if I would be interested,” Peters said. “I said, ‘Heck yes let’s roll.’ I have been itching to get back on the course

“I’m super excited about the race this morning and felt really comfortable testing yesterday,” he added.

Earlier this year, Peters sold his 32-foot LPC Super Stock-class Doug Wright cat to John Strama, who will run it today as JS Racing/TiT for TaT at Shootout Offshore with Connor Langheim, the son or reigning Super Stock world champion and Jackhammer team owner/driver Reese Langheim

Peters said he has no immediate plans to return to the sport after today’s contest. But he vowed to be back in the not terribly distant future.

“I have a ton of work on my plate at the moment and need to focus on expanding my business,” he explained. “Until then I don’t have any plans, but I can guarantee I will be back in Super Stock at some point.”
