Brian Vandeyacht of Irish Boat Shop Named ABYC 2024 Outstanding Technician

Irish Boat Shop’s Brian Vandeyacht received the 2024 American Boat and Yacht Council outstanding Technician Award during International Marine Service Technician Week April 24-29, 2024.

Started three years ago, the event brings awareness to the hardworking professionals in the marine service industry by selecting individuals for recognition each year. This year, 10 recipients were chosen, among them Vandeyacht, who has worked for Irish Boat Shop for 36 years. 

Vandeyacht, a certified ABYC Master Technician, has additional certifications from Mercury, Yanmar, Hinckley and Raymarine. He was commended for his work ethic, professionalism, flawless workmanship, reliability, time management and mentorship to younger technicians. “We all know boats break, and it always happens at the wrong time. Having someone like Brian, a trusted expert in the industry who is adept at handling everything from complex electrical issues and sailboat rigging to routine maintenance, is critical to Irish Boat Shop’s high service standards. We are all very proud of his accomplishments,” says Shae Cross, president of Irish Boat Shop.

 “His guidance and unwavering dedication to excellence has helped cultivate team members’ skills to the ‘gold standard’ maintained by Irish Boat Shop.
