DCB Open House Is A Family Affair
As action goes, a high-performance boat-builder’s new-factory open-house event—no matter how the fresh or lovely facility may be—is lacking. After all, how intriguing can a bunch of customers and vendors and friends of the new owners of a brand getting together to celebrate its new headquarters possibly be?
The answer, at least in the case of DCB Performance Marine in Phoenix, Ariz., is undeniably compelling, entertaining and flat-out fun. Such is the case when a 35-year-old custom high-performance builder moves from an outdated, cobbled-together space in Southern California to an integrated, well-executed facility and pristine production facility in business-friendly Arizona.
Today’s event, which ran from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at DCB headquarters, attracted 500-plus brand-loving folks, from customers to vendors to special guests, to the Phoenix plant. Craig and Kim Hargreaves, the managing partners of the company, minority owners Tony Chiaramonte, Jeff Johnston and Paul Miller and the entire DCB production team put on a welcome celebration for the ages.
The nearest traveled folks customers likely were the Hargreaves clan, who have a home some 25 minutes away from the Phoenix plant in Paradise Valley. Had the event organizers bestowed a “farthest traveled” award, it would have gone to Yvonne Aleman and Greg Harris of South Florida, who currently have DCB M37R catamaran powered by Mercury Racing 450R engines for sale on property and a new M37R to be equipped with Mercury Racing 500R outboards in production.

But when it came to time spent to get to Phoenix, the hands-down winner was longtime DCB client Brad Macaulay, who left this home in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, at 3 a.m. and arrived in Phoenix last night at 9:30 p.m.
That’s just the kind of effect weather and mechanical issues will have on what should be a half-day trip.
Mike and Matt Stevenson. Mike DeFrees. Mauricio Vivanco. Name a DCB client of note and that client was here today in Phoenix. The catered event, complete with the official announcement from DCB production manager Johnny Bauer about the new M42R catamaran—going to first-hull DCB M37R owners Kris and Shelby Hansen in town for today’s happening—was simply outstanding.
Thanks to Wozencraft Insurance Agency, Adrenaline Trailers, MYCO Trailers and several loyal DCB customers, Speed On The Water and Scrapyard Media are producing a documentary video capturing the company’s remarkable transition. The video will air in February.
Until then, enjoy the slideshow above. And be very, very jealous you weren’t here.
