Shootout On The Strip Delivers Extra Sizzle – Speed on the Water

Let’s get this out of the way right now: It was hot last night—even hotter than usual—during the Shootout On The Strip street exhibit and celebration sponsored by Waves and Wheels, which kicks off the fun at the annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout presented by Performance Boat Center. Of course, that’s not exactly uncommon for Central Missouri in late August, but it was a recurring theme among the thousands folks who strolled the street leading to Bagnell Dam and took in the sights.

“It was a blazing good time,” quipped local Nikki Sorenson, the owner of the Horsepower Hottie apparel brand and one of the hosts of the Swift & Co. Realty Cuddy Cabin restaurant party. “Everyone put a on great show despite the record heat and shared lots of sweaty hugs.

“And the Speed On The Water girls raised $1,700 for the Ozark Kat and K9 Shelter.”

Said the Jackhammer team’s Sara Langheim, “Beautiful boats and beautiful people—what better way to kick off the best week of the year at the lake?”

As usual, there was plenty to see starting with the Waves and Wheels display that showcased the very best of company principal’s Bluave Marine Audio line and more. Just up the street, Tim Kowalski’s Bio-Kleen display featured his Bio-Kleen-branded Sunsation 34 CCX center console.

And of course, no Shootout On The Strip would be complete without the reigning Lake of the Ozarks Shootout Top Gun, the 52-foot American Ethanol Mystic Powerboats catamaran, which drew big crowds throughout the evening.

On the new-boat exhibit side, Performance Powerboats unveiled its first P-420 catamaran. All the way from the West Coast, Team Archer Marine’s Dan MacNamara showcased the company’s new 32 Speedster V-bottom. And this year, in addition to its Super Cat-class 38-foot Skater Powerboats catamaran the M CON Racing team displayed its new Class 1 Monster Energy/M CON 43-foot Skater from the Douglas, Mich., builder.

There was plenty to see and enjoy at last night’s event ahead of this weekend’s Lake of the Ozarks Shootout top-speed competition.

Leading the 2023 Super Stock-class national series this season, the Jackhammer team raceboat was on display in front of the Cuddy Cabin venue, which made the place easy to find. Among the team members there was Sara Langheim, the wife of owner/driver Reese Langheim. She offered a positive and oddly familiar take on the evening.

“It was an awesome night with a huge turnout in spite of the heat,” she said. “Beautiful boats and beautiful people—what better way to kick off the best week of the year at the lake?”

Nikki Sorenson and the Speed On The Water girls welcomed visitors throughout the evening.
