Faces Of The Great Lakes Grand Prix
One month—that’s how long it has been since been Super Cat, Super Stock and Class 1 racers last competed at the Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix, The break between the Southwest Florida event and the Great Lakes Grand Prix in Michigan City, Ind., this weekend is a long one for them because—go figure—racers are happiest when they’re racing.

They’re also happiest when they’re together. No matter how ferocious they are on the racecourse, they are a close extended family off it.
So they tend to miss each other almost as much as the competition. That much is obvious from the images photographer Pete Boden captured this weekend.

The plus side of the month-long offshore racing schedule gap? It gives teams a chance to evaluate their performances after a few races , adjust things as necessary and refocus.
Still, by the time the Michigan City race on Lake Michigan pops they are ready to get back on the racecourse. That means today’s fog delay is likely making most of them a little crazy.
At least they have each other.
