ABM Announces New Summer Programming
The Antique Boat Museum’s Education Department in Clayton, New York, is bringing a roster of new and returning programming events for the summer that are perfect for all ages and interests.
Kids under 8 can learn the basics of sailing, rowing and paddling in Intro to Small Craft June 26 – August 16. During the same days, beginning and intermediate sailing classes on French Bay offer kids ages 8-16 a unique opportunity. Open/adult sailing classes will also be offered at evening sessions in July. Free Tuesday Night Community Sailing & Rowing sessions are a favorite for all ages, while three different River Rat Days offer kids a unique day camp experience on the river with a unique theme and partners from local nonprofits and advocacy groups.
This summer will also see the return of the Youth Architecture & Design Camp in collaboration with Syracuse University the week of July 24, where students will learn how to pull architectural designs from nature.
Starting in late June, daily St. Lawrence skiff rowing opportunities offer opportunities to learn more about the region’s indigenous watercraft, while canoes and kayaks are available for a test run. Saturday, August 5 the Antique Boat Show & Auction will host the fun Row 4 Donuts event. Whether you want to learn sailing skills, or have an interest in boating, history or the local waterways, these and more events will provide fun and learning for the entire family.
