7 Pro Tips To Beat The Heat from 13 Fishing

7 Pro Tips To Beat The Heat from 13 Fishing

Lazy summer days have us all chomping at the bit to get out and fish.

While summertime fishing can be a great time to get out on the water, high temperatures and relentless sun exposure can be a little unforgiving.

This month we’ve put together seven great tips that will help you beat the heat and make sure you are still getting the most out of the summer fishing season!

Tip 1 – Up Early and Out Late

Embrace the dawn and dusk of the day to avoid basking in the direct heat.

As the scorching sun takes a toll on the day, shift your routine to the early morning or late evening.

This not only keeps you cool but also puts you in the prime activity windows for many species of fish.

Tip 2 – Cover Up

Stay stylish and sun-safe with our high-quality gear!

13 Fishing has long sleeved performance shirts that provide UPF protection and wick away moisture to keep you comfortable throughout the day.

For junior anglers, check out the 13 Fishing Ambition Sun Shade which will keep the sun off the neck and face and make it a much better day on the water.

Tip 3 – Nocturnal Operation

Most lakes don’t have an “hours of operation” sign on them. So do some research and consider exploring your local bodies of water during the off peak hours.

Many species come out to dance in the moonlight. Remember that at night loud lures are your friends, both audibly and visually.

Grab your gear and enjoy the peace and tranquility of not having to worry about any jet skis.

Tip 4 – Dock Lights

Illuminations such as dock lights attract various aquatic creatures which creates an excellent opportunity for night fishing.

The waters in the light will draw in insects and baitfish, which, in turn will attract the fish you’re looking for.

Discover the thrill of fishing in the dark with dock lights guiding your way.

Tip 5 – Maintain a Proper Cooler

Having access to anything that’s cold can help you manage the heat.

Be sure to pack plenty of cooling items that can be rotated in and out of your cooler throughout the day.

Studies show that while the head acts as the body’s thermostat, the palms of your hands and soles of your feet are the quickest way to manage your temp.

Holding ice cubes to your hands and feet can drastically reduce the body’s internal heat register.

A cold towel on the neck still feels amazing though and can easily make the day more enjoyable.

Tip 6 – Sunscreen and Sunglasses

If you can’t cover up, make sure to lotion up. Use a quality sunscreen without toxic chemicals to protect your skin from the rays and be sure to reapply often.

Since it is difficult to lotion up the eyeballs, we recommend a simple invention called sunglasses. Harmful UV rays penetrate the eye and can damage your sight.

Additionally polarized sunglasses reduce glare and improve visibility providing an advantage while fishing.

Tip 7 – Hydration and Snacks

There are a million electrolyte packages and sports drinks out there designed to replenish what the sun has stolen.

Stay hydrated and fueled throughout the day by carrying plenty of water and  intentionally taking time to actually drink it.

Don’t forget to pack some energizing snacks to maintain your stamina throughout your outdoor activities and make sure to have something stashed away for the end of the day.

Fruit is one of the best options since it is easy to transport and provides a quick replenishment of nutrients.

In Conclusion

Summer might bring the heat, but with these tips and some 13 Fishing gear, you can conquer the elements and make the most of the long sunny days.

Enjoy the great outdoors responsibly and create memories that will last a lifetime!

And as always, if it doesn’t work…you can blame me.
