10 Reasons Missing The SOTW Key West Bash Auction Would Be The Biggest Mistake Of Your Life – Speed on the Water

10 Reasons Missing The SOTW Key West Bash Auction Would Be The Biggest Mistake Of Your Life – Speed on the Water

If fear of missing out—FOMO in acronym babble in case you’ve been out of the solar system for the past few years—is anywhere in your performance-boating DNA, you don’t just want to be at the 10th annual Speed On The Water Key West Bash on November 9, one week from today. You freaking need to be at that party.

You’d be out of the loop, and frankly out of your mind, to be anywhere else that night.

The celebration starts at 7 p.m. and once again will be hosted at the Pickles Pub’s Sandbar on Greene Street, which once again will be closed and filled with a few cool tidbits of interest such as the Monster Energy/M CON Class 1 raceboat.

Though you can catch the current JBS Racing team MTI catamaran in action next week for free, you can be the highest bidder at the Speed On The Water Key West Bash and experience the team’s new 46-foot Skater raceboat next season. Photo by Pete Boden copyright Shoot 2 Thrill Pix.

Forget that all your friends will there. Forget the free food provided by Wozencraft Insurance, the commemorative 10th annual event T-shirts and all the rest. Forget that adult beverages will be available inside and outside the host venue. Forget that it’s the party of the week in Key West.

You need to be there because we and our co-hosts, Greg Harris and Yvonne Alemán, need to raise at least $100,000—as we did last year—for Samuel’s House through the party’s live auction, which will be outside this year on Greene Street. We’re not allowed to tell you why $100,000 is a magic number. You’ll find out later. We just need to hit it.

And hit it we will through the courtesy of your giving spirit and several wildly generous readers and advertisers. Thanks to them, we have 10—and only 10 in the interest of keeping things moving—incomparable items for the unstoppable, unflappable and generally uncontainable Nolan Ferris to auction off.

Here’s the rundown:

1. 10th Annual Speedonthewater.com Key West Bash LED sign – This exclusive, laser-etched LED sign commemorating tonight’s occasion was designed and produced by Lively Machine Company in Evansville, Ind. It’s the only one in existence and will be heading home with one lucky auction winner.

2. Mercury Racing “Boater Cave” barstools (4) and other swag – In honor of the Fond du Lac, Wis., company’s 50th anniversary, which we’ve been celebrating all year long with videos, product announcements, races, parties and more, these barstools (and more) are on the block. The 30-inch stools with Mercury logos on the tops and sides are a great addition to any workshop, man cave or dock bar.

How cool would a carbon-fiber card table look in your man-cave? Thanks to the generous crew at DCB it can be yours.

3. DCB Performance Marine carbon-fiber poker table – Leave it to the team at DCB in Phoenix, Ariz.—the same team that donated a skateboard that fetched $10,000 two years ago—to come up with this one-of-a-kind custom poker table featuring the Speedonthewater.com and Mercury Racing logos and molded-in cupholders. And, in an effort to fetch as much money as possible for charity, they were cool enough to leave the DCB logo off to keep it brand neutral.

4. Brooks & Dunn autographed guitar – Donated by generous go-fast enthusiast Chuck Stark from South Carolina, this Cort acoustic guitar was recently signed by the award-winning American country music duo Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn. In 2019, the artists out of Nashville, Tennessee, were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

5. Cody Johnson autographed guitar – Also donated by Chuck Stark, who got the chance to meet the country stars at a hometown charity event in October, this acoustic guitar is signed by American country music singer-songwriter Cody Johnson. The rising star from Texas won two awards at the Country Music Association Awards in 2022 for his song “Til You Can’t.”

Want to own a piece or two of true country music history? Bring your checkbook or credit card and bid high.

6. Good Boy Vodka John Daly Golf Getaway – Talk about a priceless experience, this item allows the winner and a friend to immerse themselves in the world of Good Boy Vodka, where every pour helps a pup, and hang out with Good Boy Vodka’s Alex Pratt and meet iconic golfer John Daly and a host of other celebrities during a to-be-determined charity golf event in 2024.

7. Made-To-Order MTI Office Chair –This custom-upholstered office chair is going to be personalized to the winner’s preferences by the talented team at Marine Technology Inc., in Wentzville, Mo.

With Huski Ice Spritz out of the Class 1 ranks, you won’t get another chance to own a team shirt signed by Travis Pastrana, Steve Curtis and Gary Stray.

8. Offshore Racing Ultimate Fan Experience – This extensive item up for grabs consists of a to-be-determined 2024 race weekend with the JBS team and its new 46-foot Skater Powerboats catamaran, a Huski Ice Spritz jersey signed by the entire team (includes Steve Curtis and Travis Pastrana), a Rollin’ Transport toy truck from SV Offshore Racing, two Fountain Powerboats hats signed by the legendary Reggie Fountain and one Super Boat International Super Vee World Championship checkered flag from the Twisted Metal team owned by Billy Glueck.

9. Stephen Miles Design Shot-Ski – As usual, Stephen Miles and the talented team at Stephen Miles Design in Owensboro, Ky., came up huge with this year’s shot-ski, which features bright colors and the SMD, Mercury Racing and Speedonthewater.com logos. We know these can go for big dollars so don’t be shy, there will never be another Stephen Miles shot-ski like this one.

Stephen Miles says the commemorative 10th annual Speed On The Water Key West Bash shot-ski is the best one he’s ever made.

10. XINSURANCE Key West World Championship VIP Experience – Includes two passenger seats in the XINSURANCE helicopter during Friday’s Super Cat-class race, plus two VIP tickets for the Saturday night concert and two tickets for the XINSURANCE Outer Mole VIP area on Sunday.

So show up, dig deep and—let the FOMO be with you.

You haven’t really seen an offshore race until you’ve seen one from a helicopter.
