XINSURANCE Signs On As Great Lakes Grand Prix Sponsor Through 2027

At a press event in Michigan City, Ind., yesterday, organizers of the Great Lakes Grand Prix offshore race produced by the Offshore Powerboat Association and Powerboat P1 groups announced that the event reached an agreement with XINSURANCE making the customized specialty insurance company the title sponsor of the race for the next five years.

Celebrating its 14th anniversary this year and taking place August 2-6 at Washington Park in Michigan City, the Great Lakes Grand Prix is set to be the third stop on the Union Internationale Motonautique Class 1 World Championship series schedule.

“Bringing XINSURANCE on board is a perfect fit,” LaPorte County Convention and Visitor Bureau CEO Jack Arnett said in a press release. “They bring so much to the partnership from an added-value marketing perspective. Even more exciting is the fact that they will also be one of seven Class 1 powerboats competing in the series.

“I must give XINSURANCE President and CEO Rick J. Lindsey the credit for proposing this multi- year concept,” he added. “That was a great idea that will allow for both parties to do extensive long-term branding of the event.”

Duane Parry, the mayor of Michigan City, was excited when he heard the news.

“I cannot express enough the pride and professionalism that the LaPorte County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau has brought to the city of Michigan City,” Parry said. “The addition of XINSURANCE greatly enhances this incredible event. I applaud this amazing accomplishment of bringing them on as a much-valued partner.”

According to the press release, the XINSURANCE Great Lakes Grand Prix, which brings in millions of dollars annually to the local economy, was recently awarded the Best Event/Festival in Indiana by the Indiana Tourism Association.

Lindsey, who co-owns the XINSURANCE/Good Boy Vodka team that is expected to run its new 48-foot MTI in Class 1 competition in Michigan City, said he had a great time at the event in 2022 despite a wicked stuff that left the team’s former 45-foot MTI damaged.

“I’m all about making good partnerships and exploring new ways to do marketing,” Lindsey told speedonthewater.com during a phone call Tuesday. “I think putting our name on the Great Lakes Grand Prix is an exciting opportunity. I can go spend money anywhere, but I’d rather do it where I can have the greatest long-term partnership possible where everyone is incentivized to produce and do their best. I also want to be able to provide the best experience for the people we’re looking to bring to the event, which is one of the reasons we decided to put our name on it through 2027.”
