FEBRUARY

Bluewater Movements’ Sailfish Challenge

Leg 2 of the Quest for the Crest Series is February 19-23.

The “Sailfish Challenge-Leg 2” of the Quest for the Crest Series is set to take place February 19-23. With three checkpoints from Government Cut in Miami to Hillsboro Inlet in Pompano Beach and Lake Worth Inlet in West Palm, flexibility is the name of the game. If the bite shifts north or south, this signature format gives teams the opportunity to get to the fish and still make check-in at the end of the day. The tournament includes unique competition formats such as the popular “Coin Challenge” where teams are randomly assigned in groups by color to see who can release the most sailfish. The entry fee for each leg of the Quest for the Crest is $1,200 per boat (plus tax). The total purse this year is around $700,000.  Now in its 27th year, Bluewater Movements has created some of the most popular and successful fishing tournaments around the globe. bluewatermovements.com/tournaments/sailfish-series/sailfish-challenge

Florida Boating Safety Course

The BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water now offers an inexpensive boating safety certification course for vacationers and residents in Florida who plan to rent a boat. In addition, Florida residents and visitors can take the free, more extensive, state-approved boating safety course, which is National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA)- and Florida Fish and Wildlife-approved, and provides a lifetime certificate. The low-cost course must be completed in one sitting, while the free course can be paused and resumed. Both provide a Boater Education ID Card upon completion.
