Tschida And Maldonado Teaming Up For 2025 Super Stock Campaign

Members of the recreational go-fast boating community know Minnesota’s Jeremy Tschida for his good nature and friendly presence, not to mention his striking open-cockpit 46- and 37-foot catamarans—both dubbed Topless—from Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats. Members of the offshore racing community know veteran competitor and Southwest Florida-based Manatee Marine Unlimited co-owner Julian Maldonado as a top throttleman for the reigning Super Stock-class world champion Jackhammer team.

The 31-footer currently is at Manatee Marine Unlimited in Palmetto, Fla.
Now Tschida and Maldonado are about to be known as something else—teammates. The new cockpit duo will launch their shared Super Stock-class career at the season-opening Thunder On Cocoa Beach event, May 15-18, in Cocoa Beach, Fla.
With first-year racer Tschida behind the wheel and Maldonado throttling, they’ll run a 31-foot Victory catamaran powered by class-spec Mercury Racing 300R outboard engines in the Super Stock ranks. The cat formerly ran as Dubai Police in the X CAT World Series in the Middle East.

In their 31-foot Victory catamaran, Tschida and Maldonado already have a proven winner.
“It’s one of the most winning Victory boats ever,” Maldonado said. “I think Jeremy and I are on the same page of keeping that streak going.”
According to Tschida, he’s had his eye on the 31-footer “for some time.” And as a fan of Maldonado on the racecourse and through his work at Manatee Marine, Tschida is thrilled to share the cockpit with the legacy racer, whose father is veteran offshore racer Ricky Maldonado.
“There’s a really good boat shop in Palmetto that does amazing things at making outboard boats fast,” Tschida said. “Julian Maldonado and the team at Manatee Marine Unlimited take great pride in what they do. I’m blessed to be involved with those guys.
“Julian is a great throttleman who knows how to win and compete in the Super Stock class,” he added.

Stephen Miles Design currently is working on the design for the 31-footer’s graphics.
Offshore racing will be a family affair for Tschida, his wife, Kristie, and their 17-year-old son, Tyler, who thanks to his performance-boating knowledge and equally good nature is as well-known as his father.
The tentative name for the team is Tschida Family Racing.

“I’m excited to get Tyler involved and on the team radio because he loves any kind of racing, but especially powerboat racing,” his father explained. “He has wanted to be involved for years. He could be a commentator on the livestream—he knows more about the sport and drivers and throttlemen than I do most of the time. So this is his shot to see how it works.”
Tschida paused, then laughed.
“Tyler is going to be a senior in high school,” he said, then chuckled again. “So mom will be limiting how much time he can spend away from school.”

When it comes to recreational high-performance and offshore racing fans, no 17-year-old is more passionate or well-versed than Tyler Tschida. Photo by Jeff Helmkamp copyright Helmkamp Photos.
