Troops And Racers Are A Perfect Ozarks Pairing

From economic impact to charitable reach, the annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout is the most important event at the Central Missouri waterway and its surrounding communities. No one sane would argue otherwise.

Likewise, XINSURNANCE Offshore set for June 21-22—formerly the Lake Race and then Offshore At The Ozarks until this season—is a big-draw for fans of the sport. That, too, makes sense, as teams including Monster Energy/M CON, CR Racing, Team Allen Lawncare and Landscaping, H.P Mafia, Jackhammer and more consider the lake to be their home-water. It stands to reason that a very strong offshore racing fan-base exists at the lake.

But the most heartfelt event of the year on the waterway? That distinction belongs to the Support Our Troops Poker Run.

Set for June 20, the Big Thunder Marine-produced happening delivers—thanks to its loyal participants—a day of free boat-rides for active and retired service people and first-responders. In the process, the affair raises money for the locally based, nonprofit H.E.R.O.E.S Care veteran services organization.

Registration for the run is still open. No such sign-ups are necessary to watch the following days’ races.

Though Support Our Troops and XINSURANCE Offshore happen on the same weekend, they do not overlap. The first happens Friday, the second on Saturday and Sunday. A patriotic-minded offshore racing fan in town with his or her own boat easily could do both.
