Tip Of The Spear Poker Targeting Debt Relief For Military Families

Set for June 27-28, the second-year Tip of The Spear Poker Run in Norfolk, Va., has attracted a number of sponsors including Accelerated Portfolio, Inc., and ForgiveCo. Backing from those two entities turns out to be great news for military families in debt who live Virginia and its surrounding states, according lead event-organizer Mark Tuck.

“Accelerated Portfolio Inc., in conjunction with ForgiveCo, has informed us that they will buy and forgive the debt of hundreds of military veterans and their families to the tune of $500,000.00,” Tuck explained. “Basically, hundreds of veterans will wake up to have paralyzing debt completely wiped out.

“The folks with Accelerated Portfolio were very moved by the energy and passion that was put into our run and decided to make this extraordinary gift under the Tip Of The Spear Poker Run’s umbrella,” Tuck added.

On the marine industry sponsor side, the event has attracted Performance Boat Center. The multi-brand, Missouri-headquartered dealership will run its demo Performance Powerboats P420 catamaran in the event.

The Texas-based SEAL Legacy Foundation is the event’s primary beneficiary, but in a new charitable addition this year a portion proceeds will go to Coast Guard Tactical Law Enforcement Association.

The Tip Of The Spear Poker is adding a new stop this year.

“We made some exciting changes to this year’s event,” Tuck said. “After the fun run on Friday, we are going to have a captains meeting in the Blue Moon Taphouse, which overlooks the boats at the docks. Food will be provided during that meeting, and then we’ll move the party to the docks for ‘docktails.’ We are also adding a card stop to the Saturday poker run.

“Things are definitely moving in the right direction,” he added.
