Sunsation Sun Run At 130 Registered Boats—And Counting
The primary organizers of the inaugural Sunsation Sun Run celebrating the Algonac, Mich., high-performance center console company’s 40th anniversary in 2022, national sales manager Ryan Wenk and now-former marketing director Brad DiMaggio knew the event would be well-attended. And with 60-plus registered entries in the final mix, they were correct.
Brand loyalty comes with the territory of building popular boats for four decades.

But they had no idea the second-year event in and around Lake St .Clair, which is scheduled for August 3-5, would double participation. At present, 130 Sunsation owners have signed up
The Sunsation organizing team even added a Thursday night boat show—all Sunsation models of course—in downtown New Baltimore.
“We have enough space for 60 boats in the display,” said the company’s John Schaldenbrand, who will be joined by his brothers Joe and Wayne at the event. “There are no sign-ups. Whoever shows up will have a spot as long as we have room.”
As it did last year, the approximately 75-mile run will start between at 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. at Cabana Blue Lakefront Sports Bar and Grill in Clay Township. This year, the organizers have added two waterfront stops—Hook in St. Clair Shores and Brown on Harsens Island.
Registration for the Sun Run is still open. The only question remaining: Will the brand-specific event reach 150 boats?
Said Sunsation’s national sales and marketing manager, “That would be incredible. And I wouldn’t be surprised.”
