Following yesterday’s Easter Sunday brunch, Tim and Cyndee Hill and their close friends/partners in mischief Jason and Dana Graf and Mark Pfleeger headed to The Tiki Hut Bar and Grill in Cape Coral, Fla., to enjoy live music and adult beverages. For the Hills, who are the driving force behind the Fort Myers Offshore group, it was a long goodbye of sorts. The club’s final event of the nonprofit organization’s 2024/2025 season happened Saturday.

In a little more than a week, they’ll head north for the summer.

Thanks to the Sunsation Powerboats 32 CCX center console behind the Graf’s home, the couples are bound by more than friendship and the scholarship-fundraising club’s lunch runs. The immaculate 2016 model-year 32-footer originally belonged to the Hills. In 2021, they sold the the boat—the first 32 CCX model built by the Algonac, Mich., company—to the Grafs.

Other than updating the center console’s interior a couple of years ago, the couple has done nothing to change it. The boat still has its original pair of Mercury Racing 350R outboard engines on its transom, albeit with a few more hours on them since leaving the factory almost 10 years ago. A byproduct of fastidious maintenance, its original custom Mitcher T paintjob is still in fine shape

Minus the historic center console, the Grafs and the Hills will join hundreds of devout Sunsation fans for the fifth annual Sun Run set for July 31-August 2. Registration for the 2024 event topped 180 boats, and registration for the July happening is on pace to exceed that record-setting number.

“We’ve wanted to go to the Sun Run for a long time,” Jason Graf said. “We’re really looking forward to it.”

The Hills owned two more Sunsation center consoles before purchasing a 2000 model-year Skater 32B catamaran in the spring of 2023. But their first 32 CCX—the one that began the center console revolution for Sunsation after it dropped its sportboat line in 2016—remains close to their hearts.

That two of their dearest friends own and care for it comforts them.

“And they’ll never sell it,” Tim Hill said, then grinned. “They love that boat.

Tim (above) and Cyndee Hill said the 32-footer still has its original power.
