Striper Migration Map – May 6, 2022
Post-spawn stripers are filtering out of the Chesapeake and Delaware bays, big bass are spawning in the Hudson, and the hot striper bite continues to sizzle in Raritan Bay, New Jersey. Migratory schoolies keep pushing north through Massachusetts waters.

Maryland/Chesapeake Bay Striper Fishing Report
The 2022 spring trophy striped bass season began on May 1 and runs until May 15. Upper Bay anglers need to remember that they can only fish for striped bass below the Brewerton Channel. The 2022 striped bass regulations are on the DNR website. The minimum size for fish to be kept is 35 inches, with a limit of one fish per angler per day. Anyone deciding to chum or chunk for striped bass must use non-offset circle hooks, fishing with live eels is not allowed.
Post-spawn stripers have begun to leave some of the spawning tributaries and move out into the Bay as they make their way out to the Atlantic.

New Jersey Striper Fishing Report
Big striped bass are filtering out of upper Delaware Bay and heading toward Cape May as they finish spawning
Striped bass fishing has been steadily heating up and there were many reports of larger specimens hitting the South Jersey grounds. Bayside has been very good with a range of shorts to 40 inchers being landed on soft plastics and paddle-tails.
Raritan Bay continues to be red-hot as plenty of 20-pound-class bass are being caught by boaters and beach anglers on plugs, bait, shads and on the troll.

Long Island/New York Striper Fishing Report
The Hudson River is hosting large striped bass as the spawn is underway. Western Long Island Sound is fishing well, as more and larger migratory fish arrive. Slot-sized stripers have been reported in the South Shore surf spreading east through Suffolk County with the occasional larger 40-inch-class bass mixed in.

Connecticut/Rhode Island Striper Fishing Report
Schoolie stripers and more 30-inch fish continue flooding into the Connecticut tidal rivers and harbors.
Striper fishing keeps improving in Rhode Island waters with some larger bass to 40 inches reported around menhaden in upper Narragansett Bay.

More schoolie stripers are being reported along the South Coast into Buzzards Bay and at the West End of the Cape Cod Canal. Stripers are also being reported along the south side of the Cape in the bays and salt ponds. More 30-inch fish are entering the mix every day. Schoolies arrived in Massachusetts waters north to Cape Ann this past week and should hit southern Maine by Mother’s Day.

New Hampshire/Maine Striper Report
A few anglers have reported schoolie stripers trickling into southern Maine, but nothing consistent yet. Reinforcements aren’t far behind!
