Anglers continue to catch stripers in Chesapeake Bay, but with the extreme heat, the Maryland DNR was suggesting anglers focus their striper fishing efforts before 10 a.m., when water temperatures are at their coolest.
New Jersey Striper Fishing Report
Resident stripers up to the 30-inch range are holding in the southern New Jersey bays and along the beaches. There were a few large stripers caught off Northern New Jersey, but for the most part, only the resident fish are left, with good numbers of 24 to 36 inchers around Raritan Bay, the rivers, and the surf.
New York Striper Report
The North Shore and the Race are still holding big numbers of stripers, though the hot temperatures have made nighttime more productive. On the South Shore, bass fishing is getting tougher toward the west end, but as you move east the action improves, but it’s still on the slow side, even around Montauk.
Connecticut/Rhode Island Striper Report
The heatwave seemed to move more bunker into Connecticut waters, which helped boost the bass fishing with stripers up to 53 inches reported on live bait and topwater lures.
Another wave of bass hit Rhode Island this week, with a fresh push of fish moving into Narragansett Bay and along the Ocean. Big stripers continue stacking up around Block Island.
Cape Cod/Massachusetts Striper Report
Provincetown and Monomoy are gotten recent waves of good stripers around the Cape. The Canal continues to be slow.
Baitfish have been holding offshore, and that’s keeping big numbers of bass out there as well. There are good schools around Boston Harbor and the South Shore in deep water.
New Hampshire/Maine Striper Report
It had been a similar story in Maine and New Hampshire, with mackerel schools keeping bass offshore, but with more baitfish showing up within range, the fishing is set to improve.
