Sneak Peek—Canopied Outerlimits SC 37 Sitting Pretty

The first canopied 37-foot catamaran from Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats hit the water last week and the twin Mercury Racing 500R outboard-engine-powered boat performed just as Dan Kleitz, the general manager of the Bristol, R.I., company, expected it would.
“It aced all initial sea trials and runs beautifully,” he said.

Outerlimits man Dan Kleitz tested the first canopied SC 37 catamaran last week and was pleased with its performance.
Though it does have a carbon-fiber canopy as well as a carbon-fiber roll bar, five-point safety harnesses and a hull-bottom escape hatch, the catamaran is a pleasure boat, not a raceboat. Cockpit amenities include air-conditioning, a JL Audio sound system, a headliner and carpet. Three Garmin GPS units grace the dash.
There is more work to be done, Kleitz said, before delivery to its Michigan-based owners. That includes applying graphics to the catamaran’s yellow foundation.
“The boat will end up getting a very cool wrap on it,” Kleitz said.

Despite its racy appearance, the 37-footer is a pleasure-boat.
