Just a year-and-a-half ago, RP Elite Motors and Marine became the official dealer for Skater Powerboats in the United States. Since then, the Dallas-area based dealership, which also offers an array of custom-built trucks, has sold three Skater 388 catamarans and has another two yet-to-be-sold cats from the Douglas, Mich., company.
All three of the customer-sold 38-footers will be powered by Mercury Racing 1100 engines.
The authorized Skater Powerboats dealer in the U.S., RP Elite Motors and Marine is in expansion mode.
“We’re are past our first full year as Skater’s authorized dealer and it’s been an absolute pleasure,” said Ross Ramsey, the owner and founder of RP Elite Motors and Marine. “We are very happy with the new Skaters we’ve sold and we’re also trying to help with the used Skater market.
“Tony Cutsuries (Skater’s national sales manager) has taken me under his wing and treated us very well,” he continued. “His wife and mine get along really well. Tony seems ecstatic and (Skater company owner) Peter Hledin seems happy. And we are very, very thrilled—we feel like we are part of the small, close Skater family.”
The feeling, according to Cutsuries, is mutual.
“It’s going phenomenal,” he said. “Ross is doing really, really well. We’re really happy with him and his team, and they are doing a particularly great job with their social media efforts. We couldn’t be happier.”
Currently in expansion mode, RP Elite Motors and Marine is adding 18,000 square feet of space to its Texas headquarters. But Ramsey is most excited about the company’s second location, which will open next year in Jacksonville, Fla.
“We’re doing a full remodel of store No. 2,” he said. “It should be up and running by March.”
