Rock The River Cincy Fun Run Opens Registration

If a bargain translates to getting more than you paid for—a reasonable working-definition for the term—few things in the go-fast boating world fit the category. But the Rock The Rive Cincy Fun Run, which opened registration today at 9 a.m., on the Ohio River in Cincinnati easily qualifies. Set for August 14-16, the event delivers much more for its $250 basic entry fee than many events at twice the price.

That Rock The River Cincy includes lunch run on Friday and Saturday is only part of its appeal. The Friday night street party in downtown Cincinnati is lively but not an overly crowded, elbow-to-elbow affair. The burger served at the Friday lunch-run destination is appropriately massive, at least for participants who may have gone all in during the Thursday night welcome party.

Yet the most priceless aspect of the event throughout the weekend is its friendly vibe. You may arrive for the weekend not knowing anyone. But you won’t leave that way.

Organizers Pat Feldhaus, his brother Matt, and their friend Michael Caliguri wouldn’t have it any other way. They put their hearts into it. Their hospitality doesn’t trickle down to their event. It floods it.

And they’re continually fine-tuning their efforts in the off season.

“This year we’ve secured over 50 sponsors, which has necessitated the expansion of the street party’s space to accommodate the new vendors,” Patrick Feldhaus explained. “One of our sponsors, Huber General Contracting, has generously provided us with a stage. That has enabled us to bring in a live band and a D.J.

The event includes lunch runs on Friday and Saturday.

“We’ve also decided to extend the run on Saturday,” he continued. “That will give photographer Pete Boden ample time to capture everyone’s pictures. Additionally, we’ll be introducing more food vendors and providing more shade at the Saturday lunch stop.”

According to Feldhaus, one over-arching goal drives him and his fellow Rock The River Cincy organizer to keep improving and growing the event.

“We want people to leave here and tell their friends they should come down and check out Rock the River,” he said.
