The Arleigh Group has made company history this summer with July’s sales figures the company’s best ever and August its second best month.
The Arleigh Group includes three marine businesses – ASAP, Aquafax and Midland Chandlers – that between them distribute many leading manufacturer brands.
The sales figures have been put down in part to investment in IT systems and websites during the lockdown period earlier in the year.
“We invested in our IT systems and websites during lockdown and as a result we are now able to offer an improved customer experience, including a live stock feature on all websites,” said Adam Ramsden, Group MD.
“It has been a remarkable time for the marine industry and for the UK leisure business in general. Like most businesses, we had to make some difficult decisions during the lockdown period, however we expected a strong return from mid-June and planned for this. We were nonetheless surprised by the demand.”
And Adam said he anticipates 2121 will be a positive year for the industry in general predicting that many first-time entrants during 2020 will return to boating and leisure next year.
However he warns the next few months could be tough for businesses.
He added: “We are aware that it will be a difficult winter for many of our customers and are ensuring that we have good buffer stocks to allow them to call on these for their shop sales and installations where they are unable to hold large stocks themselves.”
