Potholes Reservoir Readies For The 2nd Stop Of The BAM Pacific Northwest Pro/Am

OTHELLO, Wash. – Potholes Reservoir is set to welcome the anglers of the 2025 BAM Trail’s 2nd of three stops for the Pacific Northwest Pro/Am Division presented by Limit out Marine and Tackle Warehouse.
The three-day event blasts off June 27 -29 where the BAM pro and co-anglers will vie for the title, trophy, and grand prize, while earning Angler of the Year (AOY) points to qualify for the year-end Tournament of Champions (TOC).
Aaron Echternkamp of Moses Lake, Wash., expects the winner to weigh-in with a cumulative event total of 50-plus-pounds.
“You can catch a lot of fish; but its harder to find the big ones right now,” he said. “The spawn has passed and there are just more of the two- to three-pounders biting. Seventeen or 18-pounds a day will probably make it into the top-10 cut for Sunday.”
Echternkamp believes a mix of reaction and finesse techniques will be responsible for the winning weigh fish. He talked potential strategy.

“Topwater – frogs – those will get those morning fish for about the first hour,” he said. “Then flippin’ something like a Missile Baits D Bomb or a Big Bite Baits Fighting Frog,”
His advice for the co-anglers was a dropshot with a Roboworm or a wacky-rigged, weedless Yamamoto Senko.
“Pitching into those pockets behind the pros can pickup a bigger one for the backseat,” he said.

For colors, Echternkamp suggested Morning Dawn or MMIII Robos and anything else in the Green Pumpkin family.
Productive locations that he recommended were depths of 3- to 5-feet, windblown points, and beaver huts, or the duckweed and cabbage.

He plans on coming prepared with his G-Loomis rods and SMITH Sunglasses. “Brings yours or you won’t have a chance,” he chuckled.
BAM will blast off and weigh in daily at Mardon Resort. Fans can join and root for their favorite fisherman or follow online at the BAM website and socials.
