The odds are strong—as in fantastic—that when Performance Boat Center’s annual Spring Fun Run begins tomorrow on the Lake of the Ozarks more than 100 go-fast powerboats will be in the fleet. Registration for the Osage Beach, Mo., multi-brand dealership’s season-opening event currently stands at 97 boats and is still open, and co-owner Brett Manire is confident the run will top the 100-boat mark.

But that doesn’t mean he isn’t impressed with turnout, especially given that last year’s event attracted 50-plus boats.

“I am blown away,” said Manire. “This all started with 10 to 12 boats. Then it went to 20. And then to 40, and on and on. It’s incredible.”

Since 2019, Performance Boat Center’s annual Cigarette Owners Rendezvous in June has consistently attracted more than 100 boats—so tomorrow won’t be the first time the Performance Powerboats, MTI and Sunsation dealer has produced a 100-boat event. But it will be a first for the outfit’s Spring Fun Run, which begins tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. following a 10:30 a.m. drivers meeting in the Performance Boat Center showroom.

The scene at Performance Boat Center today—busy and getting busier.

After departing the dealership, the fleet will head to Lake Burger in Gravois Mills for lunch. From there, it will move to Frankie & Louie’s in Sunrise Beach before returning to Performance Boat Center for an after-party at the Redhead Yacht Club/Lakeside Grill Tiki Bar.

Based on this weekend’s turnout, Manire said he’s expecting similar numbers for the dealership’s Fall Fun Run. But right now, he and the entire Performance Boat Center crew are focused on the hospitality task in front of them.

“As always, we want to provide an excellent experience for everyone who participates in our events,” he said.

Photographer Jeff Helmkamp will capture all of tomorrow’s action for speedonthewater.com. Look for coverage the 2022 Performance Boat Center Spring Fun Run this weekend on the website.
