With a mix of 60 outboard engine-powered catamarans and center consoles currently signed up and registration still open for the Outboard Fun Run on the Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri, Performance Boat Center is looking at its third strong in-house-produced event of the season. The full-service Osage Beach, Mo., dealership kicked off its 2022 event roster with its Spring Fun Run in May followed by a rendezvous for Cigarette owners in June.

A destination itself, Performance Boat Center now has an event-stop/venue in the form of the Cave Bar and Grill under its umbrella. Photo courtesy/copyright The Cave Bar and Grill.

But neither of those events had The Cave Bar and Grill as a stop for its fleet, because the venue, which is owned by Performance Boat Center’s Mark Waddington, wasn’t ready. The expansive two-pool, family-oriented location with its own eatery, watering hole and expansive dock space opened just two weeks ago and will be the first stop of the day for the third annual outboard-engine-focused happening.

“The Cave will become an event location for our boating events—and likely for others,” said Waddington.

Powerboats of all kinds are welcome in the event as long as they are equipped with Mercury Racing or Mercury Marine outboard power.

Located in Camdenton, The Cave is approximately 14 miles from Performance Boat Center. It will be the first stop for the run, which has an earlier-than-usual 10:30 a.m. start time this year. The plan is for the group to dock and enjoy the venue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and then move on to Big Dick’s Halfway Inn before returning to Performance Boat Center for a dinner and awards celebration in its showroom.

“The Cave has only been open two weeks and it’s been slammed,” said Brett Manire, who co-owns Performance Boat Center with Waddington. “It will be a hit for sure, and it also gives us a great space to hold events.”

Boats of all kinds are welcome and—as noted above—registration is still open. The only requirement is that vessels be powered by Mercury Racing, the event’s primary backer, or Mercury Marine outboards.
