Pastrana Planning Mod-V Class Return For Key West Worlds

Though Travis Pastrana hasn’t been behind the wheel of an offshore raceboat—the Class 1 Huski team Victory catamaran—since 2023, the extreme motorsports legend and traveling Nitro Circus impresario will be back in the sport this season under the XINSURANCE banner. The specialty insurer announced his return via a press release on its own website.

As noted in the early April release, Pastrana, who was on hand at the season-opening Thunder On Cocoa Beach event last weekend, will be the “alternate driver” for the XINSURANCE North and South Pro Class 1 teams.

During his tenure with the Huski campaign, he shared the cockpit with multi-time world champion throttleman Steve Curtis and alternated in the driver’s seat with his longtime friend Brit Lilly, full-time driver of the XINSURANCE South raceboat. But for the Race World Offshore Key West World Championships set for November 2-9, Pastrana won’t have to share the driver’s seat of his ride with anyone.

That’s because he’ll be driving the XINSURANCE Mod V raceboat in the three-contest event. His friend Lilly built the 29-footer in 2020.

“That was the first one I built,” Lilly said. “I raced it during the 2021 season.”

Since he’s been away from the sport, Pastrana has added a pre-mixed canned cocktail from Goodboy Vodka to the products he endorses, which include Black Rifle Coffee and more. In a nod to his myriad extreme sports accomplishments, the adult beverage from the Good Boy brand founded by former Class 1 racer Alex Pratt is dubbed “Citrus Circus.”

“It’ll be great to have Travis back,” Lilly said.
