One Hull of a Sailing Story

PORTSMOUTH — For decades after Michael Pouliotte built a 40-foot wooden boat hull at an old Portsmouth dairy farm, then sold her to support his young family, he thought about her often, followed her travels from afar and wondered if they’d ever reunite.

Pouliotte was 18 in 1976 when he built the hull where his father had a butcher shop off Banfield Road, under the tutelage of legendary Dover boat builder “Bud” McIntosh, with whom he was featured on a 60 Minutes program about masters and their students.
