Nor-Tech At 35—Newest For ‘Oldest’

For the record, I don’t know the ages of the dozen-ish gentlemen who own Nor-Tech dealerships. Nor do I care to know them. I have enough trouble ignoring my own age.
But “Oldest” worked better than “Longest-Standing” in the headline above, so it got the nod.

Owner Marvin Dufner cut the ribbon on the new Midwest Boating Super Center last Friday.
What I do know, because Nor-Tech co-founder, president and part-owner Trond Schou told me, is that Marvin Dufner is the company’s longest-standing dealer. I also know—because I was there to enjoy it last Friday—that Dufner and his crew launched the new Midwest Boat Super Center at the Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri with an open-house event. The impeccable 12,000-square-foot facility is the newest facility in the Nor-Tech dealer network and its owned by the company’s longest-standing distributor.
The event attracted Nor-Tech brass including Bill Raisbeck, one of the company’s owners (his fellow owner Schou is in Norway for the summer), chief operating officer Henrik Margård and dealer manager Geoff Tomlinson, long-time Mercury Racing man Kevin Skiba and another 150 to 200 guests from Nor-Tech customers to folks in search of something cool to do on a rainy Friday afternoon.
Dufner purchased the property for the facility on Bagnell Dam Boulevard in 2019 but only broken ground nine months ago. The modern, open-atmosphere space includes a massive foyer, one large enough to accommodate a 50-foot Nor-Tech center console, flanked by sales and administration offices.
That foyer leads into an expansive main showroom. For the open house, four Nor-Tech center consoles and one Navan sportboat were on display. The area easily could handle three more boats without feeling cramped. That’s how much space it incorporates.
The entire facility is giant, immaculate stage for the Nor-Tech line of center consoles and catamarans.
Dufner waited a long time for his new digs to come to fruition. But he’s a patient man.
He is, after all, Nor-Tech’s longest-standing dealer.
