New DCB M33R Widebody Is Drag Racer’s Edge

Now in this third year of competing in the National Hot Rod Association Factory Stock Showdown drag-racing class, Warren Walcher is—literally and figuratively—a man on the move. Walcher has homes in Grand Junction, Colo.., Fort Myers, Fla., and Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and he divides his time between them.

Flanked by DCB’s Tony Chiaramonte and Jeff Johnston, Warren Walcher look delivery of his fourth DCB catamaran—but his first new one—last weekend,

But given that he took delivery of a new DCB M33R Widebody catamaran powered by Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines last weekend at his desert residence, there’s a good chance that Walcher’s time my skew a bit more toward the Lake Havasu area this year.

“The finished product is amazing,” said Walcher, who now has approximately 10 hours on his new cat. “I had a great time last weekend.”

Color-matched to his dragster, the open-bow 33-footer is Walcher’s fourth DCB catamaran. His last boat from the El Cajon, Calif., company was an M31 Widebody powered by Mercury Racing 860 engines. Prior to the 31-footer, he owned an F-29 and an F-32.

All three were pre-owned. The M33R is Walcher’s first new DCB build.

“It’s flawless,” he said. “I think this one comes on plane even better and has better balance than M31 did.”

The cat was deliver boat on a custom triple-axle Extreme trailer with custom 18-inch FUEL KRANK wheels. But swanky as the trailer is, chances are it won’t see a whole lot of road miles.
