Industry Database

Icom’s MA-510TR is a new compact, waterproof Class B AIS transponder that will notify other vessels of a boat’s position together with displaying real time vessel traffic information.

The unit combines transponder and display and features a range of important collision risk management functions as well as a navigation function.

It identifies a target list (in a local area), dangerous list, the closest point of approach (CPA) and time to closest point of approach (TCPA).

A ‘Friend’ list screen displays the detected AIS targets that are set as friends.

A MOB function automatically marks a waypoint when the MOB button.

There is also a collision alarm and external alarm connection to optional external audio equipment.

Real-time information is displayed on the MA-510TR’s high-resolution 4.3in colour TFT display.

With the navigation function, up to 100 favourite locations or points of interest can be inputted.

When integrated with selected Icom fixed radios, the MA-510TR allows individual DSC calls to be transmitted to a selected vessel without manually entering its MMSI number.

The MA-510TR AIS data output uses either NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 formats for connectivity to most radars, chart plotters, and navigation systems.

The MA-510TR comes complete with GPS Receiver.
