Miller And Roberts Jam In Water Street Confidential Video Series Debut

Around the same time Steve Miller, Mercury Racing’s director of customer experience, was falling in love with groundbreaking licks of Luther Perkins, Peter Roberts, the co-owner of Double R Performance, was becoming with the unmatched virtuosity of Slash. That the two guitarists could not be more different in style and substance—Perkins played with the Johnny Cash show and Slash was with Guns N’ Roses—doesn’t matter. They inspired Miller and Roberts to play while keeping their full-time day jobs.

Though their guitar-heroes came from different genres, Mercury Racing’s Steve Miller and Peter Roberts of Double R Performance were inspired by two of the best.

And play they do in the first episode of Water Street Confidential, a new Mercury Racing video series celebrating the Fond du Lac, Wis., company’s 50th anniversary, which went live today. The Miller-and-Roberts segment is one of eight that will appear monthly on the Mercury Racing YouTube channel.

Inspired by Country Music Television’s “Crossroads” video series in which country artists perform with musicians from other genres—and vice-versa—Water Street Confidential pairs marine industry notables for wide-ranging conversations. The through-line, of course, is Mercury Racing as everyone involved in the series has a strong connection to the brand.

Miller and Roberts are the only musicians in the group, but the general talent-level of the pairings in all eight episodes is exceptional. Here’s a quick look at the series schedule:

March 8—Mercury Racing’s Steve Miller and Peter Roberts of Double R Performance
April 13Fountain Powerboats’ Jeff Harris and Geoff Tomlinson of Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats
May 10—Adrian Barrett of Barrett Custom Marine and Amanda Latham of Man O’ War Marine
June 14—Mercury Racing’s Merwin Kimble and Matt Blechl
