Miller And Coil Heading to APBA The Hall Of Champions

By any measure, offshore powerboat racer Tyler Miller of Wathena, Kans., has enjoyed a very big year. By the time the 2022 ended, the M CON team owner and throttleman had starred in a Speed On The Water “In The Lead” series video, earned an American Power Boat Association Super Cat National Championship and a Union Internationale Motonautique Super Cat World Championship, began having Skater Powerboats build him a new catamaran for Class 1 competition in 2023 and announced that Monster Energy drink will sponsor his Class 1 team.

And as if all that weren’t enough, Miller was informed last week that he and his M CON team driver Myrick Coil, who will join him in the Class 1 catamaran and well as team’s existing Skater 388 Super Cat-class raceboat next year, will be inducted into the American Power Boat Association Hall of Champions on Saturday, January 28, at the organization’s annual meeting in Seattle, Wash.

Miller and Coil be joined by fellow APBA Hall of Champions offshore racing inductee Dean Stahlman and Nate of the Predator team, which runs a 41-foot Apache V-bottom in the Bracket 400 ranks.

“When I received the phone call from Becky with APBA I couldn’t believe what I was hearing— and then I was speechless,” said Miller. “The 2022 season for M CON Racing and all of our supporters had been a season for the record books already and then to receive the honor of being inducted into the APBA hall of champions in the same year makes it none less than the ending to a ‘perfect’ season.”

For Coil, the APBA Hall of Champions induction is his second. His first came last year when and he fellow Super Stock-class Performance Boat Center teammate earned the distinction.

“It’s pretty crazy to get it back to back years even though it is with two different teams,” Coil said, then chuckled. “I guess you race enough boats you will luck in every once in a while.

“I’m really honored,” he continued. “And I’m extremely happy for Tyler and the entire  M CON team received an award that comes from prestigious organization such as APBA.

The Predator offshore racing team of Dean Stahlman and Nate Hunt also is being honored for its performance with induction into the APBA Hall of Champions.

Added Miller, “I am so very humbled, honored and proud of the induction, what it means to me and what the American Power Boat Association stands for in all aspects of the sport we cherish.  It takes endless amounts of perseverance and dedication to achieve the season we have been blessed with, and none of it is possible without one of the best teams and teammates in offshore racing and for that I am forever grateful.”
