Frequent beneficiaries of the largess of Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats, which has facilities in Cape Coral and Fort Myers, Fla., the Cape Coral Caring Center and the Fort Myers Offshore group is getting a boost from Mercury Racing in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. The Fond du Lac, Wis., high-performance marine engine and accessories company will match donations—up to $25,000 total—made through the Cape Coral Caring Center website until October 22.

The Cape Coral Caring center provides food and more for people in need in the Cape Coral and Fort Myers areas.

The Cape Coral Caring Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides year-round emergency food pantry services and assists those in need to maintain a suitable standard of living during unforeseen economic situations—as well as providing basic food, shelter, and supplies during Hurricane Ian recovery efforts.

For Fort Myers Offshore, a nonprofit scholarship-funding club that raises money through its weekend powerboat events, the company has created a limited-edition Mercury Racing Hurricane Ian Relief T-short that is available through the online Mercury Racing Speed Shop. All profits from sales of those shirts we be donated to Fort Myers Offshore to help support its charitable efforts and “provide relief assistance to the Fort Myers community,” according to a Mercury Racing press release.

Fort Myers Offshore also is part of the Mercury Racing Hurricane Ian relief fundraising initiatives.

“Our products are used in water across the globe,” said Stuart Halley, general manager for Mercury Racing. “But, right now, our hearts are focused on the citizens and businesses in Florida that have been devastated by Hurricane Ian. We have a large base of boat builder partners, dealers, and customers in Florida, and we’ve hosted events and competed in power boat races in communities that will forever be changed. Today, in honor of all those people, we’re announcing our Hurricane Ian Relief program.”
