Maryland Offshore To Begin Third Teasers Tour In Orange Beach

Following two years of serious fun in its canopied 36-foot Skater Powerboats catamaran, the team at Maryland Offshore Performance Marine Center in Ijamsville, Md., didn’t hesitate to agree to another sponsorship deal with Teasers Gentleman’s Club in Key West, Fla., to take the boat on its third “Teasers Tour” for the 2023 performance boat event season. In fact, Maryland Offshore founder Andy Imhof and Teasers owner Dave Johnson decided to extend the tour this time around starting with next month’s Orange Beach Powerboat Week in Alabama.

“Once again, we want to thank Dave Johnson for his commitment—the tour would not be possible without support from him and everyone at Teasers,” Imhof said. “In fact, Dave is the one who said we should add a couple of stops this year, which is why we’re starting the Teasers Tour this May in Orange Beach, Ala., for the Florida Powerboat Club event. We’re also adding a stop later in the season in Georgia for the Pirates of Lanier Charity Poker Run, which we’re pretty excited about.”

Imhof said starting the tour at the fourth annual Orange Beach Powerboat Week made perfect sense being that it is in May, it’s an FPC event, which meant he knew it would be well organized, and because it’s as close as you can get to Teasers without being in the state of Florida.

“Timing wise, Orange Beach is perfect because it works well on our calendar and sets us up for one event per month starting in May and running through September,” Imhof said, adding that the team will be attending two local Maryland events in July. “Of course, we’ll be finishing up with the Florida Powerboat Club’s Key West Poker Run in November and are planning to host another Maryland Offshore/Teasers VIP party at the club on Thursday night.

“Last year’s party was packed—it was standing-room only—and everybody had a great time,” he continued. “The whole week was fun, especially being able to display the boat in the Race World Offshore Duval Street Block Party on Friday night. Dave got permits to set up a bar out on the street with the boat and that was a huge hit. We’re not sure what we’re going to do to step it up this year but rest assured we’ll come up with something.”

Imhof said he’s looking forward to visiting The Wharf in Orange Beach for the mid-May event and is excited that a couple of Maryland Offshore customers are coming along as well.

“We’ve heard good things about Orange Beach and of course we’ve loved ever FPC event we’ve been to so we’re going to check it out,” Imhof said. “Bill Nohle is bringing his 50-foot Cigarette V-bottom Thunderstruck and Joe Erickson is taking his ‘new to him’ Skater 40SS catamaran, Orange Crush, which we should be testing here pretty soon.”

Featured recently on speedonthewater.com, the 40-footer that Maryland Offshore has been updating is sure to turn some heads alongside the Teasers 36-footer and Nohle’s 50-footer that is powered by triple Mercury Racing 1075SCi engines and received a full Waves and Wheels interior overhaul in 2022.

Between the stops in Orange Beach, Ala., and Buford, Ga., which is home to the event on Lake Lanier scheduled for Sept. 14-17, Imhof and company are going to hit three Maryland events—Rockin’ The Harbor in Baltimore (June 23-25), the third annual Tiki Lee’s Shootout On The River (July 13-16) in Sparrows Point and the 18th annual Thunder In The City (July 21-22) in Chesapeake City. After that, the team heads to Central Missouri in late August for the popular Lake of the Ozarks Shootout and Super Cat Fest.

After Pirates of Lanier, an event Imhof said he’s always wanted to attend, the boat will be hauled to Northeast Florida where it will be stored until “Key West Powerboat Week,” the tour’s season finale (November 8-12).

“Because the Lanier event was moved from July to September, we were able to add it to this year’s schedule—Bill and Joe are committed to going to that one, too,” Imhof said. “This is going to be a very fun season and I expect the positivity we receive from people on and off the water to continue. It’s crazy the places we’ll go where people notice Teasers and give us the ‘Hey I’ve been there’ comment with a big smile or thumbs up. These past two years have been so positive all around. Between our relationship with Teasers to the interactions with our Maryland Offshore customers and boaters from around the country, this has been a win-win scenario for everyone involved.”
