M CON Team Cockpit Duo Honored With APBA Hall Of Champions Induction

Tyler Miller, the owner and throttleman for the Super Cat-class M CON offshore racing team, and driver Myrick Coil can add one more item to their most-recent list of accomplishments that include the 2022 American Power Boat Association National Championship and the 2022 Union Internationale Motonautique World Championship. Last night during the closing celebration for the annual APBA meeting in Seattle, Miller and Coil were inducted into the domestic powerboat-racing sanctioning body’s Hall of Champions.

Joyful in Seattle—the M CON team’s Myrick Coil, Missi Coil, Lindsey Miller and Tyler Miller took a trip to the top of the Space Needle the night before the APBA Hall of Champions celebration.

The honor is a first for Miller, who lives in Wathena, Kans., with his wife, Lindsey, and owns and operates M CON, a thriving earthworks company. It is the second such honor for Coil, who lives in Osage Beach, Mo., with his wife, Missi. and is the service manager for Performance Boat Center at the Lake of the Ozarks.

The couples left their children at home and headed to Seattle earlier this week for a quick getaway.

“I’m very humbled and honored to be inducted into such amazing heritage and history that the APBA stands for,” said Miller, who in addition to competing alongside Coil in the Super Cat class this season will enter the Class 1 ranks with his longtime cockpit-mate. “The true legends of powerboat racing that make up the Hall of Champions in itself is something that, as a racer, you dream about the day you just meet them, let alone become one of them.

Last night’s APBA Hall of Champions induction put the exclamation point on an outstanding season for the M CON team.

“I am so proud of my wife, Lindsey, our amazing family and our race family as this honor truly only becomes reality with the help and support of all,” he added.

The significance of a second Hall of Champions distinction was not lost on Coil. In 2022, he and his Super Stock-class Performance Boat Center teammate Rusty Williams were inducted.

“It’s a real honor, and one that would not have been possible with support from my amazing wife, Missi, and our family,” he said. “It’s hard for me to believe we are receiving an award from an organization that has been around for around 120 years and will still be around after I’m gone. I was talking to (offshore racing throttleman) Johnny Tomlinson the other day and he says that he’s gotten the award twice, so I think I’m doing pretty good tying him

“Now that I talked a little crap, he’ll probably win it next year,” he added, then laughed. “And you know, I think Bob Teague also told me he’s won it twice.”
