Lively Machine Building Outboard Engine Brackets
Jeff Hoefling isn’t one of those performance-boat owners who likes to stop and take in the scenery during a day on the water. He and his longtime girlfriend, Audra Meyer, prefer to keep the stops short and the time between them long. They like to run. And now that Hoefling’s 37-foot Outerlimits Offshore catamaran is equipped with a pair of recently hopped-up, formerly 450-hp outboard engines they’ll like to run even more.
Lively Machine Co., Inc., Hoefling’s company in Evansville, Ind., manufactured the billet aluminum brackets that secure the outboard to the boat. Building and selling outboard brackets is a new business for the longtime performance-boat owner, and he’s eager to grow it.
Hoefling manufactured this pair of billet aluminum outboard engine brackets for the new Factory Stock Jackhammer team.
“The brackets are adjustable a full 2 inches and can be adjusted on the boat in 20 minutes,” Hoefling explaiedn. “We also sell a laser alignment tool that allows the customer to make adjustments within .030-inch of each other.”
The brackets will be available for raceboats as well as pleasure boats such and his Outerlimits SC 37 cat, which will be among the estimated 150 boats in this weekend’s Kuttawa Cannonball Run fleet.
“I’ve built and sold a couple to the Jackhammer team,” he said. “Price depends on the boat, the offset and the height.”
Hoefling also plans to expand his bracket line in the near future.
“We’ve been approached by a few manufacturers who would like to remain anonymous at this point,” he revealed. “But there is some new interest in adding them to center consoles in addition to those we currently manufacture for the sport catamaran segment.
“There’s lots and lots going on,” he added.
