LiquorSplit Team Sets Podium Goals For 2023 Super Cat Season

Heading into their second full Super Cat-class season under the LiquorSplit sponsorship banner, team owner/driver John Emmons and throttleman Jimmy McIntyre plan to run all five races in the 2023. American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championship Series. The New York-based team will  square off this Sunday against eight other Super Cat outfits—at least if the current boat-count holds—in their Skater Powerboats 388 catamaran powered by Mercury Racing 860 engines at the Race World Offshore-produced 7 Mile Offshore Grand Prix in Marathon, Fla.

Spread across 11 classes, 63 teams currently are registered for the Marathon event presented by Performance Boat Center and M CON racing.

The only team Super Cat currently running twin Mercury Racing 860 engines now that SV Offshore Racing has switched to Sterling Performance mills, Emmons and McIntyre will carry an extra 650 pounds in their 38-footer per the rules for running the Fond du Lac, Wis., company’s fuel-injected engines. Still, after putting running several races with that propulsion package last season, they’re optimistic about their chances this year.

“Finishing in the top three this season would be nice, but we know with the added weight that will be a challenge,” said McIntyre, who currently is hauling the LiquorSplit catamaran to Marathon in the Middle Florida Keys. “Still, that’s our goal and we’re feeling positive about it.

“We just finished up the boat yesterday morning at my shop and it’s looking good,” he continued. “My guys did a lot of work getting everything right. Plus, we got the support trailer redone and we have a new dually hauling the raceboat.”

An app-based service consumers can access order spirts online and have them delivered via Amazon, DoorDash, Uber Eats and other services in Florida, LiquorSplit is the official liquor sponsor for the APBA series produced by Race World Offshore and Powerboat P1 this year.
