With boaters having a late start to their season due to the Covid-19 restrictions, manufacturers have now seen a large increase in pump and filter sales.
For Jabsco, one of the brands of Xylem Water Solutions, this has been a 132% increase in demand for filters compared to the same time last year.
“Filters should be changed every year,” said Richard Call, Xylem marine sales manager. “This year, people dusted down their boats and jumped on board and a lot of housekeeping got left behind.”
The Jabsco Aqua Filta is a silver impregnated carbon filter that has a replaceable filter cartridge. It is standard fit on most production boats and can be replaced by the end user without turning off the water supply as the cartridge has a non-return valve built in.
And Richard explained that there has also been a large uptake in pressure pump sales with boat owners looking for a quick and tidy solution.
“Sales of spare are declining as more and more people choose to replace a complete pump,” he said.
Jabsco has a range of Par Max pumps with flow rates of up to 32 litres a minute with the par Max 2.9 model, producing 11 litres a minute, its best seller.
The pump, which has a high flow for its small size, is self-priming and automatic and can serve a galley and shower.
