Building on the momentum of its 15th anniversary in 2021, the Lake Cumberland Poker Run is on track for another excellent turnout during next month’s event at State Dock Marina in Jamestown, Ky. Scheduled for Sept. 9-11, the two-day poker run known for its amazing scenery, raft-ups and entertainment has some fun stops planned and two talented solo artists performing on Friday and Saturday evening.

According to Shanalda Burden, the Southeastern Regional Marketing Specialist for Suntex Marinas, which owns State Dock, the poker run is expanding upon its reputation for hot boats and great music with two first-class dockside concerts on tap from Lewis Brice and Charlotte Leigh.

“We’re excited to be hosting our 16th annual poker run at the lake,” Burden said. “We’ve got an excellent event planned for this year with more boats and the most unbelievable atmosphere. Like we emphasized last year, we’re trying to keep the focus on the boaters and making their experience as great as possible.”

Burden added that event registration is open and that each participant entry receives one boat registration, two vouchers for the four meals, two passes for the exclusive concerts and two event T-shirts. Meal vouchers, T-shirts and entertainment wristbands can be purchased separately for additional crew members. Burden said this year, thanks to online ticket sales and other event improvements, the general public can purchase $50 weekend passes for entrance to the festivities on Friday and Saturday night.

“We are open to the public, but you must purchase your weekend passes online, in advance,” Burden explained, adding that she’s eager to see how upgraded registration technology and other improvements can enhance the overall poker run experience.

Along with new sportboats, center consoles and catamarans from the likes of Sunsation Powerboats, Midnight Express Boats, Eliminator Boats, Fountain Powerboats, MTI and more, Burden expects a well-rounded mix of go-fast boats, both old and new, to attract some serious crowds at State Dock and when they visit the other marinas on the lake. Of course the gatherings at 76 Falls and the mega raft-ups at Harmon Creek (above) are sure to draw some very large crowds.

In terms of the entertainment, Brice, who will perform Friday from 8 to 10 p.m. with a DJ afterparty to follow, is a southern rock, country, R&B artist who lives outside of Nashville and especially enjoys performing in Key West, Fla., which is pretty much every performance boater’s favorite place to visit. Leigh, a singer-songwriter who grew up in Arkansas and lives in Nashville, is a vocal force steeped in R&B, soul, pop and country.
