Kuttawa Cannonball Run Making Online Registration Push

Though online registration for the ninth annual Kuttawa Cannonball Run will be open until May 17, the organizers of the Kentucky-based event are urging would-be participants to register before the portal closes. As it does for all go-fast boating events, walk-in registration makes planning more difficult.

More than 80 high-performance powerboat owners have registered so far for the May 30-31 event.

“We’re cutting off online signups the week before Memorial Day so we can prep the event-trailer with pre-registration bags for participants and load up everything,” Jeff Hoefling, one of the event’s organizers, explained. “It’s a short week for us between Memorial Day weekend and the run.”

Proceeds from the Kuttawa happening go to programs produced by the Lyon County Sheriff Department. Despite inclement weather and debris in the water that forced the organizers to cancel Saturday’s main event, the live auction that evening still raised more than $80,000 for its beneficiaries.
