Interceptor Delivers First 28-Foot Deckboat With 500R Outboard Power

Headquartered in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Interceptor Custom Boats delivered its latest 28 GTD Performance deckboat yesterday. The 28-footer is the first from the company to be powered by a pair of Mercury Racing 500R outboard engines.

The newest 28 GTD Performance deckboat boasts a sexy low-profile—and a pair of supercharged outboard engines.
The boat topped out at 124 mph “on the rev-limiters,” according to company owner Andrew Price, making it the fastest 28 GTD Performance model to date.
“I’m no scientist but I believe that would be an unofficial outboard-powered deckboat record,” Price said, then chuckled.

The 28-footer was delivered on a custom Adrenaline trailer.
Though Interceptor is perhaps best-known for its high-performance deckboats—the company also offers a 26-footer—the builder completed its first 36-foot catamaran in early December 2024. Later that month, Price announced that he is adding a 29-foot open-bow catamaran to the company’s offerings. The first build is slated for completion this summer.
“We’re also three weeks out from having another 36 CTC cat in the water,” he said. “This one will be 700 pounds lighter than the first.
“It will be in the water at Super Cat Fest West,” he added.

The latest 28 GTD Performance deckboat from Interceptor Custom Boats is the first to be equipped with Mercury Racing 500R outboards.
