Alabama’s Mike Goldbaugh turned 50 at the end of May. To celebrate, he joined his friends during Memorial Day Weekend at Late 2 Kort, the newly finished camp on the Tickfaw River he co-owns with his good friend from Louisiana, Kort Wittich. Throughout the weekend, something he already knew became clearer. Goldbaugh has everything he needs, starting first and foremost with his wife and fellow veteran, Angela.

A fun-loving couple who met in the Airforce in Alaska, Mike and Angela Goldbaugh own LATE FEE$ X2, a well-known Skater 368 catamaran powered by twin Mercury Racing 700SCi engines. Photo by Pete Boden copyright Shoot 2 Thrill Pix.

In addition to his health, which he’s especially grateful for as he needed open heart surgery in March 2021 to replace a leaking aortic valve, Goldbaugh is thankful for the successful property management and development business he runs with Angela. He’s also grateful for the two cool, white-and-black boats they own—a 2016 Skater Powerboats 368 catamaran with twin Mercury Racing 700SCi engines and a 2016 Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats 34-foot center console with triple Mercury Marine Verado 350 engines they purchased in June.

Both Angela, who was born and raised in Texas, and Mike, who was born and raised in Germany by his German mother and retired United States Army veteran father, also value the friendships they’ve made through boating with people such as Wittich, Mark and Britney Godsey, Johnny and Lori Schillace, and so many others. And take it from any of their friends from different parts of the country, the former Air Force officers who got the most out of their military careers are super fun, thoughtful and supportive individuals.

Yes, Mike often refers to himself as “Chopped Liver” whenever his friends get the attention on social media, but everyone knows DJ Goldnutz— as those same friends call him when he’s on the 1s and 2s at a dock party—doesn’t have to worry about being ignored in social circles. In fact, most people flock to Angela and Mike, a former Air Force pilot who recently got back into flying. In fact, flying, thanks to their Cirrus SR22 Turbo, is their preferred way to travel nowadays as it cuts their travel time to their Louisiana camp from a six-plus-hour drive to a one-hour-15-minute flight.
