Inaugural Great Bay South Poker Run Attracts Solid 50-Boat Fleet

First-year boating events often fly under radar, but that doesn’t mean they can’t get off to a strong start. Case in point? Last weekend’s Inaugural Great Bay South Poker Run in Long Island, N.Y. The affair attracted 50 predominantly local boats according Alexandria Schnepf, one of the event’s organizers.

Based in Long Island, a new group of organizers has produced its first event—and is planning to organize more of them.
Schnepf reached out yesterday with the news of her first-year happening. If her name seems familiar to performance-boating and offshore racing fans, it’s likely because she co-owns Rage Powerboats and Activator Racing with her well-known father, Mark.
To produce the run, she partnered with her friends Joseph Muench, a local engine-builder, and Rage Powerboats customer Jason Riemer.

Last Sunday’s event reportedly attracted a mixed fleet of 50 high-performance boats.
“Joseph and I first connected over 15 years ago through exotic and import car events,” Schnepf explained. “We both have a long history of planning community events in the automotive world, so bringing our shared experience and energy into the marine world just makes sense.
“We’re only getting started,” she continued. “We’ll be putting on more events where every detail is considered. “You can definitely expect more from us here in the Northeast, especially across Long Island.”
