Image Of The Week: Bahamian Hues, Nor-Tech Style

Just a short hop from Nassau, Rose Island boasts a pristine white strand and Bahamian-blue, swimming pool water of the 80-degree kind. It is the perfect spot for a daylong stern-in raft-up. And that was where a dozen boats in the 34th annual Florida Powerboat Club Bahamas Poker Run spent this afternoon.

Forget the pigs, four Nor-Tech center consoles stole the show during today’s raft-up at Rose Island Cay. Photo by Stu Jones copyright of the Florida Powerboat Club.
The sideshow attraction outside the location’s cool little waterfront café is pig-feeding. Handlers bring them down to the water, where mostly docile but sometimes-nippy swine eat what looked to be sweet potatoes from eager tourists.
But the main event at least for those fortunate enough to arrive by boat is wading and social in the bath-warm, crystal clear water. Feeding pigs is novel, for sure. But you can do that on a farm. It’s a lot of work. Especially when beach and water beckon.
A trio of Nor-Tech 390 Sport center consoles owned by Weston and Amber Bass of Louisiana, Ohio’s Jimmy and Jackie Blackburn and fellow Ohioans Joe and Jen Greulich, as a 40-footer owned by Michigan’s Brandon Jennings, among the boats that made the trek. And as you can see from the photo above, when it came to boasting colors as vibrant a those of their almost surreal surroundings they stole the show.
