Image Of The Week—An MTI Island

If controlling your own schedule is a priority when you’re on the water, avoiding large boat-to-boat raft-ups is a wise choice. Because once you’re locked into a sizable flotilla, you’re not going anywhere. Escape becomes a group activity, and group activities move at their own pace, not yours.

When it comes to powerboat raft-ups, size is far from everything. Photo by Tom Leigh copyright Tommy Gun Images.
But small-group raft-ups are a different matter. They give you more freedom to come and go. You still get to enjoy social time on the water. The setting is just more intimate.
During last weekend’s MTI Owners Fun Run to the Florida Keys, there were plenty of large, spectacular raft-ups. The event’s Islamorada Sandbar affair, for example, was akin to a floating brand-specific boat show.
But at least one group formed a small raft-up of its own and—in the process—created their own tropical, albeit tiny, MTI island.
