Great Seating For Eight—A Closer Look At An MTI Catamaran Solution

Great Seating For Eight—A Closer Look At An MTI Catamaran Solution

Popular in the go-fast catamaran segment, eight-seat interiors typically include two rows of twin bucket seats with a four-position bench behind them. But depending on cockpit dimensions, the two outer spots on the bench can be moderately to completely useless for any living thing larger than a chihuahua.

MTI created a cockpit with eight useable seats for its most recent 48-foot catamaran.

Thanks to a creative layout solution, all seven passengers—plus owner/driver Scott Rosenbach—will will enjoy comfortable seating in his 2025 model-year, eight-bucket 48-foot MTI catamaran powered by twin dual-calibration Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engines. It is the fourth 482 model the Wentzville, Mo., company has delivered since introducing the cat two years ago at the Miami International Boat Show.

As you can see from the image above, the builder pushed the 48-footer’s four center seats forward in the cockpit. Passengers who sit in the center-aft pair of buckets can extend their legs all the way to the seat bases for center-forward pair of buckets. Passengers in the two outer-aft buckets can extend their legs all their all the way to the seat bases in the outer-forward buckets.

Another clever layout feature? A molded stowage locker between the outer-aft buckets includes molded steps surface the on each side and its top. The setup makes getting in and out of the cockpit for everyone in the boat.

The 48-footer will be on the water today at the Performance Boat Center Spring Fun Ru. So far, more than 50 boats have been registered. More are expected before  the 11 a.m. start from Performance Boat Center  headquarters. That should translate to a fine day on the water for more than 200 people, maybe even a few more based on center-console capacity and popularity. One thing is certain: Anyone who rides with Rosenbach will have a comfy seat.

For MTI 482 catamaran owner Scott Rosenbach and his guests enjoying today’s Performance Boat Center Spring Fun Run, there won’t be an uncomfortable seat in the boat.
