The managing member-partner of Overwatch Partners, a venture capital group based on Fleming Island in Northeast Florida, Christian “Rackham” Rishel is no stranger to fine things. The exuberant 51-year-old entrepreneur is a significant figure in the crypto-currency world and has an array of exotic sportscars, as well a posh home in the Sunshine State. But his new Nor-Tech 552 SuperFish center console—the first of its kind— that will be powered by four Mercury Marine Verado 600 outboard engines may well end up as his favorite possession of all time.

A demo ride with Nor-Tech dealer Alden Thornton (purple shirt) in a 452 SuperFish was all it took to convince Christian “Rackham” Rishel (black shirt) that he needed to have the center console’s first larger sibling.

“That thing is going to be sick,” said Rishel, who ordered the 55-footer after taking demo ride on 452 SuperFish with Alden Thornton of First Coast Nor-Tech in St. Augustine, Fla., which handles the rigging and build-out of all the Fort Myers, Fla.-based company’s SuperFish models. “This boat is going to be awesome.”

Though substantial work remains to be done of First Coast Nor-Tech, the first 552 SuperFish is slated for completion in six months.

Thrilled as he is to have the first 552 SuperFish coming his way, his appreciation for having the means to make such a big-dollar purchase is out front. Rishel, who said that in his late teens he found himself on the street and living behind a church and using a hair dryer plug into a public restroom to stay warm, did not come from money.

“To buy this boat, it’s like ‘wow,’” he said. “I’m excited to be brand-ambassador for Nor-Tech boats.

“It’s exciting,” he continued. “I got to the see the engines the other day and they are incredible.”

Rishel is neither a hardcore offshore fisherman nor an experienced powerboat owner. He plans to enlist help running the 55-footer when he and his wife, and their two children, want to take it out for the day.

“I don’t know how to drive it and you don’t want me driving it,” he said, then laughed. “I’ll have two captains with me who already know Nor-Tech boats.”

Alden Thornton, the man behind First Coast Nor-Tech, and his crew are handling the installation and rigging of the quad 600-hp outboards. Thornton estimates that the boat will be ready for the water in six months.

“With four 600-hp outboard, 1,000 gallons of fuel capacity and a huge tower, it’s going to be a fishing machine,” said Thornton, who estimated that his dealership has dressed out 60 SuperFish center console for Nor-Tech. “It will have everything—a Seakeeper stabilization system, a FLIR systems, giant Garmin GPS screens, a sick stereo and more.”

Added Henrik Margård, Nor-Tech chief operating officer, “We are thrilled Rackham chose our brand. And the boat is going to be incredible.”

Speedonthewater.com will continue reporting on this story when the boat is delivered to its owner.
